Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]As well as being the founder and manager of Endurance Steel Orchestra, Marlon Hibbert is an alumnus of Kinetika Bloco and Guildhall School of Music - the first to graduate from there playing the steelpan.
Now he is stepping forward as an artist in his own right, drawing inspiration from Victor Provost, Andy Narell, Leon Thomas, Stevie Wonder and Hiromi.
The first steelpan player to graduate from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Marlon's influences range from Victor Provost and Andy Narell to Leon Foster Thomas, Stevie Wonder and Hiromi. His music reflects both the traditions of the instrument and its place within contemporary jazz.
A three-time UK Pan Clash Champion Soloist, Marlon has performed at Love Supreme Festival, We Out Here, Jazz Re: freshed, Jazz Café and the Royal Albert Hall, collaborating with many of London's most exciting musicians. With emotive compositions and a distinctive approach to the steelpan, he continues to expand the instrument's role within contemporary jazz.
